vSphere 5.1 Lab – HP StoreVirtual VSA Install

Next, I needed some shared storage to eventually present to my nested ESXi servers.  I decided to use HP’s StoreVirtual VSA (Formerly LeftHand) because I work with it fairly often, and because it’s the only VSA supported for SRM. HP offers the VSA for a trial period of 60 days – plenty of time to work with it. It is available here. EMC VNXe 3100 – An Introduction

Recently, I got my hands on the EMC vnxe 3100.  It’s a great SAN solution for SMBs, and very easy to setup and administer. Having worked mostly with Equalogic and HP SAN solutions, The Unisphere interface on the EMC VNXe’s was refreshing and simple. Microsft iSCSI Target 3.3 now available for 2008 R2

Microsoft released their iSCSI target software earlier this month for Windows Server 2008 R2.  This used to be only for windows 2008 Storage Server.  This is good news for those who wish to have a Windows 2008 Server host storage for ESX, or Hyper V.  You won’t get the bells and whistle’s like you would with a EqualLogic or EMC SAN, and you won’t get the performance either; what you will get, is cheap, easy storage with a feature or two.
